DCRs can be the first step towards dealing with these addictions. If we look at other countries who employ these tactics, we will see there are many benefits.
We need to change from a criminal to a health perspective to deal with drug use in a progressive way.

There were 4,561 deaths related to drug poisoning in England and Wales in 2020, up 3.8% from the previous year and the highest number since records began in 1993.
The Drug Deaths Taskforce, set up by the Scottish Government, supports the introduction of safer consumption facilities in Scotland. The Drugs Death Taskforce has recommended that the UK Government consider a legislative framework to support their introduction.
We have waited long enough – it’s time for action.
