Closed petition Allow Registrations of Death to continue remotely rather than in person

Closed on

On the expiry of the The Coronavirus Act 2020 next month (March 2022), allow the registrations of death to continue to be done remotely, rather than in person.

Prior to Covid-19, registrations of death were required to be registered by the informant in person. During the pandemic this was eased and electronic notification was accepted, allowing those of faith (esp. Muslim & Jewish) groups to process burials of their loved ones in a timely manner, fulfilling the religious rites of their deceased. In addition, the process of Electronic registrations of death allow those without the means to safely travel to the registry office whilst Covid19 still exists.
