We’re waiting for a new Petitions Committee

Petitions had to stop because of the recent general election. Once a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons, petitions will start again.

Closed petition Give parents legal rights to half of the ashes of a deceased child

We want it to be set out in law that if a parent loses their child through whatever circumstances then they are automatically entitled to half of their ashes should their remains be cremated.

More details

Due to breakdowns in relationships and communication between parents and partners of the deceased, sometimes parents are refused access to any of their child's ashes. This can impair the grieving process and cause significant distress.
