Closed petition Ban fur and foie gras imports

It has been widely reported that the UK Government is considering dropping plans to ban imports of fur and foie gras. We want the Government to confirm that the Animal Abroad Bill will include provisions to ban the import of fur and foie gras to the UK.

More details

The production of fur and foie gras causes suffering and by allowing the products to be imported the UK is enabling that cruelty.

Ministers should be focused on other issues facing the country rather than considering dropping the proposed ban and continuing to allow cruelly made items into the country.

Personal choice over what we buy is one thing but enabling animal cruelty is quite another. The ban should be implemented and our stance against animal cruelty made firm.

What is a Westminster Hall debate?

Westminster Hall is the second chamber of the House of Commons. Westminster Hall debates give MPs an opportunity to raise local and national issues and receive a response from a government minister. Westminster Hall debates are general debates that do not end in a vote.
