We’re waiting for a new Petitions Committee

Petitions had to stop because of the recent general election. Once a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons, petitions will start again.

Closed petition Remove value of homes from ability to pay for social care means test

The Government should remove the value of your home from the calculation of someone’s ability to pay for the costs of their social care. These people have worked hard all their lives and paid their taxes, only to have to sell their homes to pay for the help they need.

More details

The Government must do more to help them at what can be the lowest point in their lives.

As a son, I am looking at a potential larger-than-life bill to fund the care my mum deserves. She worked all her life scrimping and saving to buy her own home, only for the government to seemingly turn their back on her when she needs their help the most.
