Closed petition Fund cervical screening at 20 as opposed to 25
Closed on
The Government should fund the NHS to provide cervical cancer screening from the age of 20, not 25 as it is currently. Regular 6 monthly smears should be given if abnormal cells are identified to monitor whether these develop into cancer.
Many women, including my daughter, have passed away from cervical cancer due to failure to detect at an earlier age. I feel that clear symptoms of my daughter’s cervical cancer were missed, causing a delay in diagnosis. In recent years there has been an increase in cases of cervical cancer among young women in England, and cervical screening at a younger age will surely help prevent the loss of live. Monitoring young women's cervical cell changes is imperative.
