Closed petition Make zero hour contracts illegal

The blanket phrase ‘zero hour contract’ allows many ways for companies to word ‘we can’t guarantee you any hours’ and in my opinion it is a really abused system! Hard-working employees should be allowed the guarantee of a set number of hours per week in return for the work they provide.

I believe it should be mandatory for every company to guarantee each of its employees at least 16 hours of work per week. Too many managers abuse the power of the ‘zero hour contract’ and give their employees barely enough hours to afford food and clothing for their children … it is a joke!
