Closed petition Allow unrelated children to enter UK with Ukrainian families

We call on the Government to urgently extend eligibility for the Homes for Ukraine scheme, to allow Ukrainian refugees to enter the UK with children of friends who were unable to leave Ukraine themselves.

More details

There are reports that such families are being denied permission to enter the UK despite having full documentation from the children's parents in Ukraine.

Millions have fled the war in Ukraine. Amongst them are people entrusted as carers for children of friends who were unable to leave. These vulnerable groups are currently excluded from entering the UK.

Safeguarding these children is paramount. But this process must not be allowed to cause harmful delays in seeking refuge within the UK when there are people ready and waiting to welcome them into their homes.

We call on the government to urgently support groups such as these.

What are Westminster Hall debates?

Westminster Hall is the second Chamber of the House of Commons.

Westminster Hall debates give MPs an opportunity to raise local or national issues and receive a response from a government minister. Any MP can take part in a Westminster Hall debate.

Debates in Westminster Hall take place on ‘general debate' motions expressed in neutral terms. These motions are worded ‘That this House has considered [a specific matter]'.
