We’re waiting for a new Petitions Committee

Petitions had to stop because of the recent general election. Once a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons, petitions will start again.

Closed petition Make remote working, where possible, a statutory employment right

The government should make it so that remote working requests must be honoured as standard and only in cases where it is impossible for the job to be done remotely should the request be denied. By making it a requestable right, only those who it would suit would access it.

More details

There is a massive push to get more people back into the office, I feel this is a backward step. Remote working opens up employment to numerous groups who are currently unable to access it, from parents with childcare issues to the disabled who may struggle in an in office environment.

Remote working also has many potential advantages to both employers and employees, including but not only:

- Better work/life balance
- Financial benefits
- Increased productivity
- Improved staff health and wellbeing
