Closed petition Ban iguanas from being kept as house pets.

Closed on

Ban iguanas from being kept as house pets. Of course they still could be kept in zoos or by licenced breeders but not as single house pets.

Iguanas in captivity live 12-15 years at most while in the wild, they live 20 years or more. This is because they don’t thrive well in captivity and get ill easily because they don’t get the proper conditions and care they need. Many iguana-keepers don’t realise how big they grow up to (6ft) and don’t provide them conditions that seem like their natural habitat. Males in particular get aggressive as they get older. Zoos and certified breeders would get a check once in a while.
