Closed Increase minimum and maximum sentences for child sexual offences

Protect our children by increasing sentences for child sexual offences. This crime is one the most serious imaginable and I’ve seen first hand how it has a long lasting impact on the victim. We believe current sentences for child sexual offences often don't reflect the magnitude of the crime.

Some of the sentences seen for recent convicted child sexual offences are not enough, and we believe do not provide a sufficient deterrent.

More needs to be done, the victims deserve more and the public deserve more. This is a widespread view and we believe the Government are ignoring it.

There is no justification to hand out a short sentence to some who has taken advantage of children for sexual gratification.
