Rejected petition Make it a legal requirement that letting agencies provide an emergency number.

Make it a legal requirement for all letting agencies to have an out of hours emergency contact number.
Letting agencies are required to take care of certain maintenance, how can they do this if they are not contactable?

More details

Having just moved in to a property we found ourselves with intermittent electricity.
Roll on the Jubilee bank holiday, we soon found out the letting agency does not have an emergency contact number.
Electric now firmly refusing to stay on we were facing three further days with no power, hot water or heating.
We called an emergency electrician who gave us electric and a large bill 2 hours later.
People of all finances MUST have this basic requirement.
Protect low income and vulnerable people.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Decisions about how to provide customer service to their tenants is a matter for letting agencies, not the UK Government or House of Commons.

If there is an action you'd like the UK Government or House of Commons to take, and which they are directly responsible for, you could start a petition about that.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
