Rejected petition Impose a legal obligation on social media providers to safeguard from harassment
Impose a legal obligation on social media providers to safeguard from mysogynistic behaviours and harassment against women users, whereby perpetrating users can be reported to social media providers with the view to suspend, block, bar users and in more serious cases Investigate the user.
More details
Women as men use social media both for personal use and professionally, e.g. writers. Women should be able to safely operate their accounts, that is set their location, accept direct messages without a fear of harassment or even stalking. Women should have to safeguard themselves and not being able to use social media as men do as that puts their business in disadvantage and only bolster the message that it is acceptable to harass and put blame on women.

Why was this petition rejected?
We can't publish petitions when the request is something that's already happening or something that has been announced since you started your petition.
We think your petition is covered by Government or Parliament action already. If you'd like something else, you could start a new petition clearly explaining what it is.
The Government has introduced the Online Safety Bill, which includes new requirements for firms which host user-generated content, including to make clear in their terms and conditions what is and is not acceptable on their site, and enforce this, and also to give adult users more control over whom they interact with and the legal content they see, as well as the option to verify their identity.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
