Closed petition Pay student teachers for their placement and provide bursaries for training

Trainee teachers should be provided with a grant to aid their studies and pay for their travel to placement. Being paid for their hours worked on placement would ensure all students have a fair chance at succeeding at teacher training.

Student teachers cannot work enough hours to live alongside full time placement, therefore they should receive payment for hours worked on placement and/ or a grant to aid their travel to placement. The number of student teachers is falling dramatically due to lack of funding to study and this needs to change.
