Closed petition Establish and Maintain an Aerial firefighting capability to combat wildfires

The United Kingdom is seeing a rise in record temperatures as a result of global warming. Whilst strategic measures are being taken to moderate these effects, tactically we need to establish a capability to fight heath and forest fires from the air.

Global temperatures are rising and in the UK we have experienced record temperatures year on year and increasing levels of destruction of both wildlife habitat and property. It would be unfortunate if we did nothing to provide effective countermeasures until after the event. It takes about a year to convert a BAe 146 or similar aircraft to firefighting configuration so we could if we wanted to have capability in place for next summer.
