Closed petition Remove gender and sex markers from government documents (other than healthcare)
Closed on
The Government should remove what I feel is an unnecessary requirement to declare gender and/or sex on Government documentation, including passports and other forms of photographic identification such as driving licences.
The need to declare what may or may not be in someone's trousers in legal documents is surely irrelevant and archaic at best, I don’t think it serves anyone in our society.
For the inclusion and protection of people from all identities, it would be in the Government's best interest to remove unnecessary gender markers from documents where such information is irrelevant, such as photographic identification. The only place where sex or gender should be considered relevant is within healthcare.
