Closed petition Make it compulsory that paddle boards are sold with buoyancy aids

I want the government to make it compulsory that a paddle board is sold with a buoyancy aid to prevent deaths due to water sports. We want paddle boards and buoyancy aids to be sold within the same packing so that you cannot buy a paddle board without one.

On July 14th 2022 my 24 year old niece who was a very confident and capable swimmer drowned in Conwy Morfa due to getting into a struggle whilst paddle boarding and being pulled under water. We are confident that a buoyancy aid if worn would have saved my nieces life by keeping her above water until the RNLI were able to help her get undone from being trapped. We are hopeful that if this petition is successful then many lives will be saved and people will be more likely to use a buoyancy aid.
