We’re waiting for a new Petitions Committee

Petitions had to stop because of the recent general election. Once a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons, petitions will start again.

Closed petition Prohibit landlords from declining tenancy to renters because they have children

The Government should ensure that landlords cannot decline a potential tenant because they have children. Additionally, it should ensure that potential tenants have a route for recourse should they suspect this has happened.

More details

Homes are for humans. It is outrageous that landlords can decline families a home because they have children of any age, especially if their property is near a school.

Often rental advertisements simply state "not suitable for children" and refuse viewings to people with children. Usually, these are homes with more than one bedroom, sometimes, these are family homes that are located close to schools.
