A win-win plan that gives immediate and long-term benefits:
Government to provide interest-free loans to homes for installing renewable energy equipment (solar panel, heat pump, retrofit).
This will reduce monthly utility bills for homes. The savings can repay the loan over 5-7 years.

A simple plan that benefits everyone:

Households – Immediate cash savings vs paying hefty bills to energy suppliers; less dependency on the grid; no-interest cost on buying expensive equipment.

Government – Reduction in inflation; the UK can become energy secure in a few years, also meeting its climate targets

Suppliers – They can buy excess energy from households at a low cost; they can work with the government in installation, maintenance, billing, and awareness-building.
