Social media is creating endless amounts of problems for our children and children do not need it. It should be used by over 18s only and you should need to prove your age before being allowed to open an account. This should help solve a multitude of problems for families and schools.

MPs held a debate on the impact of smartphones and social media on children on Tuesday 14 May in Westminster Hall. The debate was led by Miriam Cates MP.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, Saqib Bhatti MP, responded on behalf of the Government.
