We call on the Government to ban the burning of wood and garden waste in residential areas. We want to enjoy clean air in the summer and wintertime.

Wood burning is the largest contributor to wintertime pollution (Particulate matter pollution - PM2.5) and an increase in PM2.5 levels can result in increases death rates as the quality of the air is made worse.

We need to change our attitudes towards wood burning. We cannot afford to regard the smell of wood smoke as something evocative, nostalgic, or natural. Science is not subject to debate, burning wood and garden waste is shortening lives.
