Rejected petition Deaf/hearing loss awareness training mandatory for all UK employers/education

Mandatory training awareness sessions of deaf/hearing loss and tinnitus for all employers, hearing tests/ear checks to be provided at schools/colleges (blockages of wax cause temporary deafness), all music/entertainment venues to display warning signs about safe decibel levels (safe = 85 decibels)

More details

1.5 billion people (nearly 20% of the worldwide population) live with some form of hearing loss, I'm one of them and work as a teacher in a college, 1 in 4 deaf people have experienced workplace discrimination (like me), and have often left the company as a result. Employers are being awarded 'Disability Confident Employer/Leader' but hearing loss/deaf/tinnitus awareness training is not considered a priority. Mental health impacted due to isolating factors and no support available.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action, and the request of a petition needs to be clear from both the title and main text of your petition.

If you want the Government to take several actions the title of your petition must reflect these. We cannot publish petitions where the title requests one thing, and the main text of the petition requests several other things.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
