Closed Increase penalties for repeat bike thieves

We want the Government to increase legal penalties for people found guilty of repeated bike theft offences. These should involve increased fines and custodial sentences, and mandatory Criminal Behaviour Orders.

Around 1,100 bikes stolen every day in the UK, and only 5% of those stolen are returned each year. We want the Government to take action to tackle bike theft.

Whilst the UK Government has said it’s seeking a ‘golden age’ for cycling, bike theft is still a major barrier preventing cyclists from using their bikes as transport.
