Rejected petition Compel MPs to declare all affiliations with private and public organisations

Increase transparency to improve trust in the UK Government and Parliamentary system by compelling all MPs to declare affiliations they have with organisations, both public and private.

More details

As UK citizens, it is important that we can feel reassured of the integrity of our elected representatives. This integrity can neither be demonstrated nor proven if MPs have connections with bodies outside of Parliament without full transparency to the electorate. It is vital for trust and democracy that the public is able to see that all connections are non-treasonous and that no MP is in a position, nor are they manoeuvring into a position, whereby they could betray one's country.

Why was this petition rejected?

We can't publish petitions when the request is something that's already happening or something that has been announced since you started your petition.

We think your petition is covered by Government or Parliament action already. If you'd like something else, you could start a new petition clearly explaining what it is.

MPs are already required to declare their interests, and it's not clear how you want these requirements to be changed.

You can read the rules on declaration of Members’ Interests here: https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201719/cmcode/1882/188205.htm

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
