Rejected petition Allow citizens to submit a vote of no confidence in the government.

Citizens should be able to submit a vote of confidence in the government to ensure accountability and support the will of the people. As a first step, this democratic process should be provided when the prime minister resigns.

More details

The people have a single vote during the parliamentary term of office. During this time the incumbent prime minister may resign or cease to be prime minster and the manifesto pledges on which they were elected may change or fail to be enacted by government. The people should therefore be given the ability of a binary vote of confidence in the government to ensure the government is accountable to the pledges made in the election process.
