Rejected petition Postpone the HS2 rail project to help balance the UK budget

Can you consider postponing this project until inflation begins to decrease, along with the risk or warnings of recession?
In reality, only a few businessmen will use this service. Students, long distance commuters, salesmen and everyone else, will continue to use cars or cheaper buses.

It's been made clear by Rishi Sunak and Jeremy Hunt that taxes need to increase. This will always hurt the poorest workers more than anyone else. Why not postpone this White elephant until we can all afford to use it?
I for one, will not vote again because of my disillusionment with politicians. So please listen to what people actually need right now.
