Closed petition Make congenital heart disease scans available at birth

We would like all babies to be offered scans at birth for undetected congenital heart disease (CHD). 1000 babies leave UK hospitals each year with undetected CHD. Our Ronnie lived for 2 years seeing many doctors and having hospital admissions. There is not enough done.

More details

We sadly lost Ronnie on the 19th of August 2022. Our hearts are shattered and the only thing we can do with our pain is turn it into power by not only spreading Ronnie's name, story and legacy but fighting for all babies to be scanned at birth. The reason we are fighting for this is simply because if Ronnies heart condition, which he had since he was born, was detected in either pregnancy or birth then maybe just maybe he would be here with us today…in fact we are certain.

What are Backbench Business debates?

Backbench Business debates give backbenchers (MPs who aren’t ministers or shadow ministers) an opportunity to secure a debate on a topic of their choice.

Backbench debates can either be general debates (which do not end in a vote) or be on a substantive motion (which calls for an action and can end in a vote). This debate is a general debate.
