Closed petition Require health warnings on advertisements for fast food
Closed on
The UK Government should require fast food companies to include health warnings on all adverts. This is the Governments responsibility for public health. Whilst rules restricting advertising for unhealthy foods online and before 9pm on TV have been a step forward, more needs to be done.
The restrictions on advertising unhealthy foods online and before 9pm on TV should be a good start for promoting healthier eating in the UK, but we believe it isn't enough.
The UK population shouldn't be encouraged to eat more fast food through ads, which could exacerbate the crisis of obesity. We need more to do more, by requiring health warnings on those ads - as seen on betting and smoking adverts - so people are made aware to the negative consequences of over-consumption of fast-food.
