We’re waiting for a new Petitions Committee

Petitions had to stop because of the recent general election. Once a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons, petitions will start again.

Closed petition Make it illegal to publish personal information online without consent

We want the Government to make it illegal for anyone to publish personal information about a person online, without that person's consent.

More details

Currently it is not illegal to publish personal information about a person online, provided the information was not obtained and is not being used illegally.

If you haven't given permission for your personal information to be shared it should be illegal for anyone to publish this online.

Currently personal information is being published online, including on websites that encourage doxing, without any consent being given. If you haven't given permission for your personal information, like full name, age, personal email address etc, to be published online, it should be illegal for this to happen.
