Rejected petition RE Open recovery homes/hospitals to release patients from main stream hospitals.

In the 1980s there were recovery homes/hospitals for patients who had surgery or other hospital proceedures but did'nt need to stay in hospital taking beds. The recovery homes would take the patients until they were fit enough to return home, freeing up beds in hospitals reducing A+E waiting times.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. There are already options for people being discharged into the community rather than to home. You can read an example here:

Decisions on specific facilities would be a matter for local NHS trusts and local authorities, but we could accept a petition calling for increased funding for this sort of step-down care.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
