Closed Make Counselling study eligible for the 2nd degree HE tuition fee loan.

Counselling is an allied health profession and it is offered by NHS. It should be included in the list of subjects eligible for second degree loan like nursing, midwifery and dietetics are. This is to make counselling therapy easily accessible for all who need it and to meet increasing demand.

We need counselling therapy to be easily accessible in the post COVID-19, cost of living crisis and mental health crisis world.
In addition, 2nd degree student loan would remove a barrier for middle aged people to career change and obtain highly desirable qualifications for which there is increasing demand. Counselling is particularly suitable for mature students with more life experience. The loan could make significant number of people employable up until retirement.
