Rejected petition Petition to have "The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989" reviewed.

Particular focus relating to motorcycles on;
"Part 2 - Lamps to show a steady light",
...and specifically...
"Item 13.—(1) Save as provided in paragraph (2), no vehicle shall be fitted with a lamp which automatically emits a flashing light."

More details

Please review Item 13.— (2), and change this law to allow Motorcycles to have, IN ADDITION TO THEIR STEADY STATE HEADLAMPS, 'auxiliary flashing lights' fitted to make it easier for other road users to better see approaching Motorcycles, the same as for pedal cycles currently.
This amendment would surely reduce the number of vehicle and motorcycle incidents where vehicle drivers pull out in front of approaching motorcycles, citing that they "did not see the approaching motorcycle"
Thank you

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. Your petition title, calling for a review into the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989 contradicts your petition that calls for a change to the regulations.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly which you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
