Petition Supply electric heating pads, free of means testing, to pensioners

Electric heating pads consume a fraction of the energy of heaters, and can give great relief in a variety of physical ailments. As the cost of energy has soared, we believe the Government should fund the supply of these heating pads to all pensioners.

Used on an armchair heat can penetrate around loose clothing, and can be trapped under a fleecy rug, creating personal warmth in cold rooms. Free issue to all of pension age would make this a classless measure.

We do not live in times of ordinary economic stringency, when cynics might feel patronised by legislators who live in warm rooms. We believe this would be a welcome reaction to the specific circumstances which have caused energy price.
