Closed petition Ban party candidates from parish and town council elections

Closed on

We want a ban on candidates from political parties being able to stand for parish and town council elections.

Too many parish and town councils have become political battlefields for major political parties, to the detriment of fulfilling their main purpose.

Too many parish councils have fallen foul to party political fighting. We believe that party politics should have no place in parish or town councils, and Cllrs should not be distracted by party politics. A ban on candidates from political parties being able to stand for parish and town council elections could help prevent party political fighting and distractions in these councils.
