Petitions had to stop because of the recent general election. Once a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons, petitions will start again.

Closed petition Reform the Gender Recognition Act 2004

Legal recognition of non-binary people, accompanied by the introduction of a Gender ‘X’ marker on legal documents (passports, driver’s licenses, etc.).

More details

De-medicalization of the process of legally changing your gender, instead allowing self-determined change without medical proof.

This could help:

- Reduce fear and confusion during ID checks
- Reduce instances of misgendering (when other people refer to you as the incorrect gender) in institutional and professional environments
- Ensuring non-binary identities are recognised in medical contexts, helping to protect patients from discrimination and misgendering
- End legal invisibility of non-binary people

Showing the Government is committed to equality and protection of minorities.
