Closed petition Mandatory biometric checks for certain professions, to check criminal record

We want anyone who is to work with children, vulnerable adults, people with disabilities and the elderly to be required to undergo biometric checks, against which their criminal record is checked. This should include jobs in the police, NHS, religious institutions and charity organizations.

We believe introducing biometric checks would help ensure that people who are guilty of serious offences - such as child sexual offences, murder or rape - are identified by employers, even if an individual has changed their name or is otherwise concealing their identity.
