Rejected petition STOP the push to replace gas boilers with heat pumps

Let taxpayers' preferences steer replacement of gas boilers with heat pumps.
STOP moves towards inflicting requirements to put in underfloor heating, swap out radiators with larger ones and endure higher costs for cold homes and tepid water inherent with installation and use of heat pumps.

More details

If heat pumps worked well, taxpayers' money wouldn't be needed for £5000 grants bribing householders to fit them.

Installation, run & maintain costs are high & they're less efficient heating most homes & water than gas boilers.

Most homes would need larger radiators & underfloor heating with heat pumps.

Gas boilers heat water to 60C & radiators feel hot. With heat pumps that drops to 40C, so tepid showers & increased risk of Legionnaires’ Disease, plus radiators feel tepid.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about Government policy regarding heat pumps, but we're not sure if you want the Government to revoke the ban on new gas boilers that will apply from 2025, to remove grants for the installation of heat pumps, or both. We also couldn't publish a petition that made unsubstantiated claims that heat pumps increase the risk of legionella, or that the Government is introducing requirements for underfloor heating.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
