Due to the cost of living crisis, many families are struggling to afford basic necessities, which include baby formula. The Government should make baby formula vouchers available for anyone struggling on a low income to ensure these children are receiving adequate nutrition.

Previous governments have been encouraged to promote the “Breast is Best” campaign and subsequently changed policies on the availability of breastmilk substitutes. The campaign was successful and it is well understood that breastfeeding is preferable to the use of baby formula; it is not a decision taken lightly when breastfeeding fails and alternatives need to be used.
