Rejected petition Stop Universities from restricting where students can go for their Year Abroad.

We ask the government to step in and protect us from the controlling and collectivist behaviour of our Universities. They must be forced to accept the sovereign will of individuals. No matter what the risk or perceived wisdom of that choice. After much failed protest we must petition.

More details

Currently some are dictating to students that they are not 'permitted' to go to e.g. Mexico or Peru, because these places are 'too dangerous' in their opinion. What the Universities fail to understand is that they haven't the right to dictate what risks we may or may not take with our lives. We are sovereign individuals with the right to take responsibility for ourselves and make our own decisions. They do not have the right to refuse accreditation in retaliation for defiance as they threaten.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Decisions about arrangements for where university students can study abroad as part of a university course are a matter for individual universities, not the UK Government or Parliament.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
