Closed petition Require dog breeders to submit DNA samples of all dogs for a central database.
Closed on
Make submission of canine DNA samples compulsory. These should be on a central database, linked to microchip and ancestral data. This would allow owners to access their dog’s ancestry information, including information about dogs that have been destroyed or seized under the Dangerous Dogs Act.
We believe that lack of adequate oversight of dog breeding has led to an increase in the number of dogs of unmanageable breeds, abandoned pets, and a rise in dog attacks - and deaths.
Breeders must be held accountable.
It’s about time the Government stepped up and did something proactive to ensure new dog owners have information about their dog, and its ancestry.
We believe this could help reduce the rise in canine crime and dog theft.
