Closed petition Require an account holder's consent for a direct debit to be increased
Closed on
Following issues with fuel poverty and the forced installation of prepaid meters, I implore the Government to act to prevent any company from increasing a direct debit without the account holders permission, thus giving people more control over their finances.
The Government should introduce new requirements for consent for increases to direct debits, to prevent companies from increasing the direct debit payments of their customers.
This reform would allow for account holders to have more control over their finances, and avoid hikes in prices, which can force them and their families into poverty.
I believe this should enable better communication for companies and clients to arrange shortfall payments and Direct debits.
