We ask the Government to subsidise sports kit, including sports bras, for girls from lower-income families, and to work with schools to ensure sports bras are included on kit lists as standard.

Affordable access to sports bras would significantly improve adolescent girls’ experiences of school sports. As the Government’s ‘Sporting Futures’ strategy explicitly acknowledges, sport creates enormous physical and mental health benefits for young people. By failing to support girls with access to the right clothing we are perpetuating the exclusion of girls from sport.
