Rejected petition Review Into Limited Prescription To Patients Of Medicinal Cannabis By Their GP's

For Parliament to review and relax the current restrictions on GP's to prescribe Medicinal Cannabis for therapeutic and medicinal use for patients with with Neuro-Diverse, Degenerative, Terminal and Muscular conditions. By relaxing restrictions, more patients could have a better standard of life.

More details

The UK is the World's largest producer of Medicinal Cannabis for medicinal and scientific use and yet in this country, GP's can only prescribe it to a very limited amount of patients with very severe medical conditions, but for others with severe medical conditions they are are having to buy Cannabis illegally and could face prosecution for possession. So if the UK Government was to relax the current restrictions on the prescribing Medicinal Cannabis by GP's, it could be properly regulated.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

You cannot get cannabis-based medicine from a GP – it can only be prescribed by a specialist hospital doctor.

We could accept a petition calling on the Government to allow GPs to prescribe cannabis-based medicine from a GP.

However, decisions about who medicines are prescribed to are a matter for the relevant public health bodies, not the Government or Parliament. We therefore can't accept petitions calling for certain medicines to be prescribed to people with particular conditions, as this is not something the Government or Parliament are responsible for.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
