Closed Make the penalties for false accusation of rape the same as for rape

I would like the Government to make sentences for people who are found guilty of making false accusations of rape the same as for those who have been found guilty of rape.

False accusations of rape can have horrendous consequences for the accused. Even if proven innocent the side effects can still affect the accused's life and if incorrectly found guilty could see them facing life in prison.

Where it has been proven that someone has falsely accused someone of rape, we believe they should face the same penalties as someone found guilty of rape.
