Closed petition Require ministers who breach the Public Sector Equality Duty to be removed
Closed on
The PSED requires ministers to eliminate unlawful discrimination, advance equality of opportunity, and foster good relations between those who share a protected characteristic, including age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation, and those who do not.
Outrage and anger gain attention and votes. Sometimes such anger is directed against protected groups. We believe a Minister cannot fulfil their duty to foster good relations with groups such as people seen as non-white, or LGBT people, while uttering falsehoods about those groups. If they support socially conservative policies such as erecting practical barriers to asylum seekers coming to the UK, or opposing LGBT-inclusive PSHE classes in schools, they should tell the truth about them.
