This petition was submitted during the 2019-2024 parliament
Rejected petition NHS doctors to reopen availability of advance appointments.
Instruct NHS local GPs to allow appointments to be booked in advance especially for medication reviews, regular check ups rather than having to have pot luck ringing at 8am every morning and hope you can get an appointment.
More details
Patients are missing or delaying regular check ups and medical checks due to not being able to get an appointment.
Previously, before covid, patients could ring and book appointments within the next three weeks ahead and so could plan work around their appointments. Now patients have to hope that their boss is ok with them dropping out of work or missing meetings to go to last minute appointments (if you can get through and get one when you ring at 8am and sit in queue for up to hour).
This petition was rejected
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or House of Commons is responsible for.
Decisions about taking appointments are a matter for individual GPs, not the Government or House of Commons.
As a result it is not possible for the Government or House of Commons to take the action you have requested.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
