Rejected petition Review the graphic sex education in secondary schools in the UK

I want the education minister to look at the graphic sex education in the curriculum at the moment.

More details

The sex education curriculum at the moment is unsuitable for 11/13 yr olds even children a little older are shying away from school because they are upset at what they are made to listen to or view in these lessons.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about how sex education is being taught in primary schools, but it's not clear exactly what aspects of sex education you are concerned about.

You can read the Relationships and Sex Education curriculum, including what it says schools should be teaching about intimate and sexual relationships, including sexual health, here: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1090195/Relationships_Education_RSE_and_Health_Education.pdf

It is up to individual schools to decide how to deliver the content set out in the Government's guidance.

We can accept petitions calling for changes to the Government's guidance on Relationships and Sex Education, if you're concerned about some of the content listed. Alternatively, if what you're concerned about is how schools are delivering sex education, we could accept a petition calling on the Government to review how sex education is delivered in secondary schools.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
