Closed petition Prohibit the killing of domestic pets in a pandemic or domestic emergency
Closed on
Introduce legislation to prohibit domestic pets from being killed in any event or national emergency, pandemic, outbreak or otherwise. Lord Bethell recently revealed the Government had considered whether it might have to ask people to exterminate pet cats due to covid-19.
Domestic pets are extremely loving and comforting companion animals that helped many owners to overcome a great deal of personal trauma linked to the pandemic, such as loneliness, the loss of family and friends and worsening health issues. We believe it would be immoral for a single domestic pet to be killed, whatever the circumstances. We now need legislation to prevent this possibility of domestic pets being killed due to a national emergency.
