We need changes to UK knife crime law because it is getting worse day by day. Youths found with a knife for the 1st time need to go into a detention centre for 4 weeks to learn the consequences of knife crime and the ripple effect it has.

My name is Jeannine Burke and on 5th April 2019 I lost my son Ty'relle Burke to knife crime. He was only 20 years old and was murdered by his 'friend' in our home. He asked the person to leave because he was becoming belligerent, he refused, went downstairs in my kitchen and took my meat knife and stabbed my son once in his side and caught his lung, liver and main aorta of his heart. Ty'relle was rushed to hospital where he died 5 hours later that Friday evening. The effect is on both sides.
