Closed petition Outlaw ‘Pay Per Mile’ road pricing schemes
Closed on
Prevent local authorities, TFL, National Highways & other authorities from introducing pay per mile (PPM) vehicle taxes, including the use cameras to monitor vehicle movements for the purpose of charging drivers.
TFL and other local authorities have installed cameras, at public expense. We are concerned these cameras might be used for ‘pay per mile’ (PPM) schemes in the future.
Motorists already pay high amounts for fuel, insurance, MOT, repairs, servicing and increasing charges for congestion zones and ULEZ. We believe PPM schemes could erode citizens’ privacy, and freedom of movement due to affordability, and that such schemes could have the biggest impact on the poorest and most vulnerable people in society.
